Up Up Up circus ensemble performs its 6th annual, one hour, all ages, outdoor circus show this summer! We are a collection of performers from Bellingham, Seattle and afar. With a crane truck for shenanigans and jumble of instruments for live music, the show features aerialists, musicians, acrobats, clowns and illusionists. It'll leave your jaw dropped with amazement, your belly aching from laughter, and your cheeks sore from grinning. How do you all fit in one truck? We don't! A few of us will be in the truck and the rest of the ensemble in other vehicles or on bicycles, to increase the fun! When is this happening? This is our sixth annual tour in the Pacific Northwest. Come see us in Western Washington and Oregon in August and September 2026! What are your rates? Our shows are donation based! Our goal is to bring the joy of circus to anyone and everyone who may need it, regardless of money. Up Up Up is a 501c3 non-profit and a self-contained touring circus show with the mobility to perform outdoor circus shows for small farms, immigrant communities, tribal community centers, refugee support groups, nursing homes, and women's shelters, etc. to bring some joy and levity into the air! Our ensemble of seven performers creates whimsy, beauty, and hilarity accessible to audiences of all ages.

Three exceptional exhibitions will fill the San Juan Islands Museum of Art’s galleries this summer. Convergence & Divergence: The Family Aesthetic. For the first time, the work of renowned photographers Imogen Cunningham and her son Rondal Partridge will be shown with her husband and acclaimed etcher Roi Partridge. This ground-breaking exhibition explores how artistic vision is passed through generations, and how these artists shaped and responded to their times while pursuing their art. Fluid Life—Glass Sculptures Inspired by the Sea.  Influenced by his San Juan Islands surroundings, the luminous work of international glass artist Raven Skyriver recreates the essence of aquatic life by mimicking the movement and fluidity that define creatures in water. Feathered Masterpieces. Chris Maynard carves feathers into intricate art—cutting them into detailed shapes and arranging the cutouts into scenes that celebrate the life and flight of birds. Each piece changes with the intensity and angle of light, highlighting the patterns and colors of the feathers, inviting the viewer to look and look again.

Artistic Director Aloysia Friedmann has gathered a lineup of brilliant musicians to perform an extraordinary concert. The Festival brings renowned mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke to Lopez, who recently sang the role of Carmen with the Seattle Opera. Works by Clara and Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms will be performed. Returning this year will be violinist Zachary DePue and cellist Ani Aznavoorian. Probation officer Casey Carson could use a change of scenery. Unfortunately, one of Casey’s clients—an escaped murderer— is after one of her charges in a side gig she has taken on at an outdoor adventure camp. Facing wildfire, flash floods and an angry mountain lion are nothing compared to the murderous intentions in store for one of the kids. On a crash course with the killer and with her faithful pup Felony by her side, Casey tries to lead the group to safety. Cindy will read from the book and sign copies available for purchase at Griffin Bay Bookstore.

Friday Harbor Documentary Film Festival's Best of the Fest continues August 21 at 7 PM with a free screening of Champions of the Golden Valley at the San Juan Island Library — no ticket or RSVP required. Bring your young artist to the San Juan Islands Museum of Art for Handsewn Puppets , a free Family Art Days class on Saturday, August 22 from noon to 2:00 PM — the last class of the Summer 2026 series! Led by Alchemy Arts Center guest instructors Sophia Larsen and Emerald Vernon-Lapow, kids ages 5 and up will create simple puppets from scrap fabric while learning basic hand-sewing techniques, with the option to bring special materials from home. Family Art Days is a beloved community program offering hands-on art classes for children to enjoy alongside a parent or supportive adult, with all materials provided by SJIMA. Globally-inspired jazz with dimension Duende Libre is an award-winning jazz trio whose original music combines jazz virtuosity with roots rhythms from Cuba, Brazil, and West Africa into a “strikingly authentic blend.” Each having apprenticed with direct descendants and master musicians of these traditions, they consider themselves disciples of their teachers. Up Up Up! plus Dana Lyons and Kaleidoscope Kid Faire Orcas Center is proud to present its annual Summer Concert Series on the Village Green, bringing free, live music to the heart of Eastsound. This vibrant outdoor series, supported in part by Joe Brotherton and the Doe Bay team, celebrates community, creativity, and the magic of music under the open sky. All performances are free for the community and take place on Sundays at 5 p.m. The series runs June 28 through Aug. 30. The eclectic lineup will have something for everyone with phenomenal performers for all ages. Up Up Up! headlines, with Dana Lyons also performing on Sunday, Aug. 23. Also on the lineup is a Kid Faire, hosted by Kaleidoscope Preschool and Child Care Center. Up Up Up! is a nonprofit self-contained touring circus show that brings outdoor circus performances to small farms, immigrant communities, tribal community centers, refugee support groups, nursing homes, women’s shelters, and more. Their ensemble of seven performers creates whimsy, beauty, and hilarity accessible to audiences of all ages. Performing its sixth annual one-hour, all-ages, outdoor circus show, the production features aerialists, musicians, acrobats, clowns, and illusionists — complete with a crane truck for shenanigans and a jumble of instruments for live music. Also performing is Dana Lyons, the Bellingham-based “environmental troubadour” who carries on the legacy of artist-activists such as Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. Best known for his hit comedy song “Cows With Guns,” Lyons is a singer, guitarist, and recording artist who has toured the world for thirty years promoting environmental and social justice causes.
