- Sat, Aug 22, 12:00 PMFamily Art Days - Handsewn PuppetsBring your young artist to the San Juan Islands Museum of Art for Handsewn Puppets , a free Family Art Days class on Saturday, August 22 from noon to 2:00 PM — the last class of the Summer 2026 series! Led by Alchemy Arts Center guest instructors Sophia Larsen and Emerald Vernon-Lapow, kids ages 5 and up will create simple puppets from scrap fabric while learning basic hand-sewing techniques, with the option to bring special materials from home. Family Art Days is a beloved community program offering hands-on art classes for children to enjoy alongside a parent or supportive adult, with all materials provided by SJIMA. - Wed, Sep 9, 6:00 PMAn Artist Talk with Raven SkyriverThe San Juan Islands Museum of Art invites the community to a free artist talk with glass artist Raven Skyriver on Wednesday, September 9, from 6 to 7 PM, in the museum's Sterner Atrium Gallery. Skyriver, who grew up on Lopez Island, creates glass sculptures inspired almost entirely by marine life, trained under mentor Lark Dalton and at Pilchuck Glass School, and worked with the William Morris studio team before establishing his own internationally exhibited practice. His work is on view through September 14 as part of " Fluid Life: Glass Sculptures Inspired by the Sea" . The museum is located at 540 Spring Street in Friday Harbor; general admission is $10, free for visitors 18 and under.
